Genesis 1:29, “God said, "I have given you every plant with seeds on the face of the earth and every tree that has fruit with seeds. This will be your food.” (GWV) Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in men in the US. In 2009 it was estimated that there were 192, 280 new cases and 27,360 death from prostate cancer. You may have heard about the beneficial effects of lycopene which is found in tomatoes, watermelon, and pink grapefruit on prostate cancer. An article in the journal American Association for Cancer Research December 9, 2009 relates that “the natural compound xanthohumol blocks the effects of the male hormone testosterone, therefore aiding in the prevention of prostate cancer. Xanthohumol is derived from hops and belongs to the group of flavonoids that are found in many plants, fruit, vegetables and spices. Studies to date have shown that xanthohumol blocks the action of estrogen by binding to its receptor, which may lead to prevention of breast cancer.” So for the possible prevention of prostate and breast cancer, try hops tea or capsules. It is also very beneficial for insomnia.
