1 Corinthians 9:25, “And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.”  You may be wondering what relationship exists between your waistline and your brain. It has been known for some time, that as we age our brain mass tends to decrease. This leads to Alzheimer's and senility. Recent research has revealed that in older Americans the brain mass is associated with the waist line. In obese patients the brain tissue is as much as 30% less than their non-obese counterparts. "The brains of obese people looked 16 years older than their healthy counterparts while [those of] overweight people looked 8 years older," said UCLA neuroscientist Paul Thompson, senior author of a study published online in Human Brain Mapping. The majority of the brain tissue loss is located in the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain where decision-making and memory occurs. So to maintain optimal cognitive functions and to prevent or forestall Alzheimer's, stay trim through lifestyle changes, for better health!
